IS IT A FIT?
For local shoots and the decisions that finish them
Happy Photon gives Apple Silicon Mac users a focused workflow for personal RAW, JPEG, and mixed-format shoots. It works directly with folders and concentrates on selection, global and local photographic adjustments, presets, and export.
- No import or cloud upload is required to begin.
- No required account, subscription, advertising, or product telemetry.
- Edits, ratings, flags, and color labels are stored in a local catalog.
- Exports create separate JPEG, PNG, or WebP files.

FOLDER TO EXPORT
A complete workflow in three decisions
Choose the keepers
Browse the shoot in place, compare candidates side by side, group bursts, and use flags, ratings, color labels, and filters to concentrate on the strongest photographs.
Develop the photographs
Crop, straighten, and correct perspective, then adjust light, white balance, color, contrast, tone, and detail with global controls and linear/radial local masks.
Export finished copies
Select the photographs you want, proof the output, and create JPEG, PNG, WebP, or 16-bit TIFF copies without changing the originals.
FILES AND CAMERAS
Bring a JPEG, RAW, or mixed camera folder
Standard image support includes JPEG (commonly shown as JPG), PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, and WebP. RAW support is verified for CR2/CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, and RW2. NRW, ORF, and PEF open through the same decoder but are not part of the verified set.
ORIGINAL-FILE SAFETY
Your source photographs remain unchanged
Happy Photon saves edit instructions, flags, ratings, color labels, and presets in ~/Pictures/Happy Photon Catalog/ by default. Regenerable previews and thumbnails use ~/Library/Caches/Happy Photon, and Settings can stage a catalog move. Original image files remain where they started.
Happy Photon is pre-1.0 software. Keep normal backups of important photographs and verify the camera formats you depend on.
CURRENT SCOPE
A smaller workflow by design
Linear and radial masks provide local exposure, temperature, tint, and saturation adjustments. The current release does not support Intel Macs, layered compositing, HDR output, custom output color profiles, cloud/mobile synchronization, or Lightroom-edit migration.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you download
What happens the first time I open it?
macOS shows its standard safety confirmation for an app downloaded from the internet. Choose Open to continue. Public Happy Photon releases are Developer ID signed and notarized.
Does Happy Photon support Intel Macs?
No. The initial public macOS target is Apple Silicon running macOS 14 or later.
Do my photographs need to be copied into the app?
No. Choose an existing folder and browse it in place. Happy Photon keeps its catalog data separately and leaves the original image files untouched.
